Black Power Movement
¨We were aware of the fact that death walks hand in hand with struggle.¨ - Stokley Carmicheal
The Black Power Movement was a big turning point in American history. Black Americans were taking a stronger stance against the resounding racism in our country. African Americans shifted away from non-violent protesting and took a more militant and revolutionary stance. The movement focused on African American history, culture, and national liberties instead of just civil rights. The Black Power Movement demanded more from the government and the country than the Civil Rights Movement. The movement took place from 1968 until the 70's.
